Chair – Janice Beazley (Fort Frances) Janice (Jan) Beazley, a Certified Health Executive and Lifestyle Coach, has 28 years of executive health care experience which has focused on all aspects of health care administration in rural and urban settings. Jan was one of the founding North West LHIN board members and was first appointed Vice-Chair in June 2005. From 1999 to 2005, she worked on the Executive Team at Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga executing strategic initiatives and the redesign of a new governance structure. Prior to that, she was Foundation Director at Riverside Foundation for Health Care in Fort Frances, and also served as Assistant Executive Director, Corporate & Special Services at Riverside Health Care Facilities from 1990-1998, providing leadership in that portfolio across a multi-site organization. Jan is a graduate of the University of Minnesota in Health Services Administration and has taken business studies from the University of Manitoba and Lakehead University. She is a member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives and is actively involved in a number of community, regional and provincial initiatives and boards.

Vice Chair – Robert (Bob) Gregor (Marathon)
Robert (Bob) Gregor is a long-time resident of Marathon. He worked at Marathon Pulp Inc. for 32 years, where he held a number of progressively more responsible positions including employee relations administrator, manager of human resources and, over the last fourteen years of his career, as president/resident manager. Since his retirement in 2004, he operates a small consulting practice specializing in business, human resources, mediation and forest products. He has served on the boards of a number of organizations, including the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, the Ontario Pulp and Paper Health and Safety Association, the Ontario Forest Industries Association as well as various community and recreational committees within the Marathon area.

Secretary – Ennis Fiddler (Sandy Lake)
Ennis Fiddler, a native languages teacher and CBC radio broadcaster, was involved with the organizational development of the Sioux Lookout Health Authority, and the Tikinagan Child and Family Services. He was Chief of the Sandy Lake First Nation from 2000 to 2002, and band councilor from 1998 to 2000. Before joining the North West LHIN, Ennis was chair and member of the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout where his focus was the amalgamation of the hospital’s native and non-native services in Sioux Lookout and planning for a new hospital. In acknowledgement of his outstanding community involvement and leadership, he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2003.

Member – Kevin Bähm (Terrace Bay)
Kevin Bähm has been employed as a police officer with the Terrace Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police since 1988. During this time, he served as acting police chief with Terrace Bay Police Service and gained experience in the fields of administration, media relations, community service and exhibits management. From 1986 to 1988, he was employed as director of commercial contracts/security and investigations with Pinkerton Security Limited. Prior to this, through progressive advancement, he worked as a police officer and then detective/investigator with the Metro Toronto Police. His community involvement has included serving as a member of the Schreiber and Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce, board chair and member of the McCausland Hospital, and board chair of the Lake Nipigon Health Network.

Member – Judy Morrison (Fort Frances)
Judy Morrison is a member of Nicickousemenecaning First Nation. Most recently Morrison was employed by Weechi-it-te-win Family Services as the community liaison worker. She also worked as a health planner for Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Authority and as a researcher/consultant for Unicare Comprehensive Health Organization (CHO)-Native Perspective. Morrison has a long history of working with numerous community organizations. She has served as a trustee of Riverside Health Care, Mine Centre Direct Area School Board, Unicare Comprehensive Health Organization and member of the Women’s Council. Currently, Morrison is volunteering at the United Native Friendship Centre as a mediator for the Alternative Youth Justice Program.

Member – Tom Sarvas (Thunder Bay)
Thomas Sarvas is a self-employed Chartered Accountant and Partner in the firm of Buset Sarvas LLP Chartered Accountants in Thunder Bay since 1992. Prior to this, he was employed as a Manager and Senior Staff Accountant with Buset & Buset Chartered Accountants and as a Senior Staff Accountant with BDO Dunwoody Chartered Accountants. Mr. Sarvas is currently Treasurer of the George Jeffrey Children's Centre and past Treasurer of the Lakehead Express Soccer Club. |

Member - Dianne Miller (Thunder Bay) Dianne Miller is the General Manager of Forest Ecosystem Science Co-operative Inc, a partnership of private and public sector organizations investing in forest science initiatives for the purpose of supporting sustainable forest management. Prior to this position, she worked in corporate public relations for 15 years with Great Lakes Forest Products / Canadian Pacific Forest Products Ltd. and also provided consulting services in the public relations / communication fields for a few years as a private consultant. She is a life-long resident of Thunder Bay, has served on numerous local and provincial boards and committees and continues to be actively engaged in many initiatives. She is former Chair of the Board of Governors of Confederation College and former Chair of the Public Affairs Committee of Ontario Forest Industries Association. Dianne is a graduate of Queen’s University where she attained a Master of Public Administration degree and is a graduate of Lakehead University from which she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

Member - Gary Phillips (Thunder Bay) Gary Phillips is the manager and principle trainer/consultant for Northwest Training and Development. An experienced organizational development consultant and Safety Professional, he is involved in a variety of training projects and consulting assignments in for- profit, public, and not-for-profit organizations. He lectured in occupational health and safety at Lakehead University for 10 years and is the author of The Art of Safety, published in 2008. Gary is also a Master Practitioner and a Licensed Trainer in the field of NeuroLinguistic Programming, providing personal and executive coaching services to individuals and businesses. Gary has served on the Board of Governors of the Association for Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and in various chapter and provincial offices of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Education Degree and Masters Degree in Adult Education and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). From his home base in Thunder Bay, Gary’s activities take him across Canada and the United States, as well as overseas.

Member – L. Joy Warkentin (Thunder Bay) Joy Warkentin was trained as a registered nurse and holds a Master of Education in Curriculum. Beginning as a nursing instructor in Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, she became Curriculum Coordinator, Chair of Health Sciences, and then Associate Dean, Academic at Confederation College prior to moving to Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Joy served as Fanshawe’s Senior Vice-President Academic Services from 2000-2009 and recently retired. She was awarded an honorary degree from Fanshawe in 2008 for her contribution to applied education and to the College. She was the 2009 recipient of the fifth annual Minister’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. The YMCA of Western Ontario honoured her with a 2009 Women of Excellence Award in the category of education, training and development. In May, the Fanshawe College Board of Governors named Warkentin the College’s first Vice-President Emeritus in recognition of her 40 years of service to Ontario college system and to Fanshawe College.
In addition, Joy has been an active community volunteer serving as Chair of the Thunder Bay District Health Council and on the Boards of the Children’s Aid Society of London Middlesex, the South West Community Care Access Centre, the AIDS Committee of London and the Premier's Council on Health, Wellness and Social Justice.
