Chair - L. Joy Warkentin (Thunder Bay) Joy Warkentin was trained as a registered nurse and holds a Master of Education in Curriculum. Beginning as a nursing instructor in Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, she became Curriculum Coordinator, Chair of Health Sciences, and then Associate Dean, Academic at Confederation College prior to moving to Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.Joy served as Fanshawe’s Senior Vice-President Academic Services from 2000-2009 and recently retired. She was awarded an honorary degree from Fanshawe in 2008 for her contribution to applied education and to the College. She was the 2009 recipient of the fifth annual Minister’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. The YMCA of Western Ontario honoured her with a 2009 Women of Excellence Award in the category of education, training and development. In May, the Fanshawe College Board of Governors named Warkentin the College’s first Vice-President Emeritus in recognition of her 40 years of service to Ontario college system and to Fanshawe College.
In addition, Joy has been an active community volunteer serving as Chair of the Thunder Bay District Health Council and on the Boards of the Children’s Aid Society of London Middlesex, the South West Community Care Access Centre, the AIDS Committee of London and the Premier's Council on Health, Wellness and Social Justice.

Vice Chair - Anne Krassilowsky (Dryden) Anne Krassilowsky has extensive experience in municipal politics, having served as Mayor of the City of Dryden from 2004 to 2010 and as Councillor in Dryden from 2001 to 2003.
Ms. Krassilowsky has served on the boards of many associations including President of the Kenora District Municipal Association, President of Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA), member of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), member of the Kenora District Services Board, member of the Dryden Police Services Board, and on the Mayor’s Committee for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.
Serving 10 years in municipal politics, she enjoyed the privilege of building and developing respectful working relationships with many communities, First Nation Chiefs, and organizations.

Secretary Treasurer- Reg Jones (Thunder Bay) Reg Jones’ background in education, health services administration and corporate finance brings valuable experience and insight to the Board. From 1989 to 2008, he was Vice-President Corporate Services, as well as Secretary and Treasurer at Confederation College. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, institutional finance, board governance and human resources. He has served on many boards – including 10 years as a Director with the St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay. He’s viewed as a big-picture thinker, someone who seeks rational, integrated solutions to problems.

Member - Dennis Gushulak (Ear Falls) A retired elementary teacher and Vice-Principal, Dennis Gushulak continues to work as an Occasional Teacher with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board. Dennis is a graduate from Lakehead Teachers’ College and Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degree.
Dennis is a long-time resident of Ear Falls and has had many years of involvement in the fields of education and health care. His previous community involvement includes being a member and Board Chair of the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital, Director and Board Chair of the Ear Falls Community Health Centre, Steering Committee Member for the organization of the Ear Falls Family Health Team, an elected Trustee Member of the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA) Regional Council Executive Committee, and an appointed Trustee Member of the OHA’s Small, Rural and Northern Executive Leadership Council Committee.
Currently, Mr. Gushulak is a director and treasurer of the Ear Falls Chukuni Christmas Cheer Board, treasurer of the Local Unit of the Occasional Elementary Teachers, and President of the Red Lake Unit of The Retired Teachers of Ontario. He is also presently appointed to the Retired Teachers of Ontario Provincial Member Services Committee.

Member - Dianne Loubier (Ignace) Dianne Loubier has over 25 years of senior level executive financial, administrative and business management experience including in the health care sector. She currently operates a part-time financial consulting business and is Chair of the Ignace Economic Development Committee and Treasurer of the Ignace Golf & Country Club.
Ms. Loubier served as a Councillor in Ignace from 2006 to 2010 and served on various boards including the Kenora District Services Board, the Northwestern Health Unit, past Chair of the Wawa Police Services Board, and past Board Director for the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards and special task force that was instrumental in restructuring the organization to better reflect the needs of the province and the people.
She has extensive knowledge and expertise in all aspects of financial and human resource planning along with a strong understanding of governance practices and community health philosophy through her work with boards and senior management positions held throughout her professional career.

Member - Dan Levesque (Greenstone) Dan Levesque, a former Ontario Provincial Police officer, retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Greenstone OPP detachment last year. During his 31 years of police service, he helped plan and design the Greenstone detachment, which opened in 2008. He also specialized in mediation and crisis intervention. He has firsthand knowledge of the socioeconomic challenges affecting the residents of Northwestern Ontario, including First Nation communities. Mr. Levesque is currently Board Chair of the Greenstone Victim Services and a Board member of the Superior-Greenstone Association for Community Living.

Member - Dianne Miller (Thunder Bay) Dianne Miller is the General Manager of Forest Ecosystem Science Co-operative Inc, a partnership of private and public sector organizations investing in forest science initiatives for the purpose of supporting sustainable forest management. Prior to this position, she worked in corporate public relations for 15 years with Great Lakes Forest Products / Canadian Pacific Forest Products Ltd. and also provided consulting services in the public relations / communication fields for a few years as a private consultant. She is a life-long resident of Thunder Bay, has served on numerous local and provincial boards and committees and continues to be actively engaged in many initiatives. She is former Chair of the Board of Governors of Confederation College and former Chair of the Public Affairs Committee of Ontario Forest Industries Association. Dianne is a graduate of Queen’s University where she attained a Master of Public Administration degree and is a graduate of Lakehead University from which she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

Member - Gary Phillips (Thunder Bay) Gary Phillips is the manager and principle trainer/consultant for Northwest Training and Development. An experienced organizational development consultant and Safety Professional, he is involved in a variety of training projects and consulting assignments in for- profit, public, and not-for-profit organizations. He lectured in occupational health and safety at Lakehead University for 10 years and is the author of The Art of Safety, published in 2008. Gary is also a Master Practitioner and a Licensed Trainer in the field of NeuroLinguistic Programming, providing personal and executive coaching services to individuals and businesses. Gary has served on the Board of Governors of the Association for Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and in various chapter and provincial offices of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Education Degree and Masters Degree in Adult Education and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). From his home base in Thunder Bay, Gary’s activities take him across Canada and the United States, as well as overseas. |
