Integrated Health Services Plan

The North West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), with its partners, is working towards its vision for the northwest: Healthier people, a strong health system – our future.

We have a plan to achieve this vision called the Integrated Health Services Plan (IHSP), which provides an assessment of local health care needs and existing health services in Northwestern Ontario; identifies priorities for health system improvements in our region; and sets out plans to address these priority health care issues. We have reviewed and revised our first IHSP (2007-2010) into a new plan for 2010-2013 to be sure our plans and priorities are kept current. This new plan is posted below.

Each IHSP is based on information gathered through data analysis and significant community engagement with residents and health care professionals. Advice is provided to the LHIN through our community engagement activities and education sessions, roundtables and our many Advisory Teams. Our largest engagement project in 2009 was our Share Your Story, Shape Your Care initiative, which gathered opinions, stories and ideas from over 800 people on priorities for change to the health system in Northwestern Ontario.

  • Specialty Care & Diagnostic Services
  • Chronic Diseae Prevention & Management
  • Long-Term Care Services
  • Mental Health & Addictions Services

Enablers:
